The Minister

            The duties and responsibilities of the minister of Oakland Church of Christ are but not limited to the following. These duties and responsibilities are the Elders also and the Ministers, deacons and other shall assist in the following and various ways:

The minister of the Oakland Church of Christ is to spiritually lead, feed and strengthen the body of Christ through living a Godly life, sound doctrinal sermons, classes and positive interaction with the members, the brotherhood and the community.
 
His Duties
 

Preach and teach the Word of God every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, Wednesday Bibles Studies at the Congregation and at other times, unless otherwise directed upon by the Elders.

Participates in encouraging and restoring members of the Congregation by visiting the sick at their homes or hospital and delinquent members.

Counsels and interact with the congregation frequently through maintaining office hours at the building.
 

Teaches Bible classes including, Non-Member Classes when called upon.

  Seek to evangelize and spread God’s word throughout the surrounding area and the world
 

Actively involved in the evangelism effort of the Congregation.

 

Assist the Elders in establishing programs at the Congregation, which will help strengthen the spiritual growth of the Congregation and meet the needs of the community.

Takes an active part in the development and progression of the Oakland Church of Christ biblical vision

Actively involved in developing Biblical Leadership and maintaining this Leadership throughout his tenure.

Participates in developing all members of the Congregation at all levels to the fullest capability possible.

Interacts frequently with the Christian Brothers as part of the Leadership of the Congregation.

Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all Church of Christ ministers in the Detroit metro area and abroad.

Fellowship frequently with the members of the Congregation to help foster a positive relationship and stimulate growth.                                                                   

Credentials
 

·     Sound in Doctrine and able to preach the gospel truth in season and out of season.

      Hospitable and Friendly to members and non members.
 
·     Wife that interacts with the congregation.
 
·     Rule his own house well.
 

·     A man who fears God has a reverence and respect for God & His Word.

·     A man truth, who knows the truth, teaches the truth, and stands for the truth at all times.

·     A man not greedy for power, control, prestige or popularity.
 
·     A person who knows how to delegate and trust others.
 
·     Available and involved in the work of the Lord.
 
·     A man dedicated to the Lord and his family.
 

·     Has a deep sense of responsibility to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

·     A person of conviction to do what is right in the eyes of God.
 
·     A man with a positive attitude.
 
·     A lover of people and a good team player.
 
·     A person of integrity and self control.
 
·     An open minded person who listen to others.
 
·     Organized with demonstrated administrative skills.
 
·     Open and transparent.
 
·     A patient and forgiving person.
 
·     A planner and goal setter.
 
·     A man of faith who trust in Lord.
 

·     A person who listen to the members, deacons, leaders, elders and non members.

·      Recognizes the importance of every member.
 
·     A good manager with some secular work experience.
                                                                                                         

      A man known for having integrity inside and outside the church.

·     A man of prayer.
 
·     A self motivator.
 
·     A self disciplined person who gives 110%.
 
·     Must have a servant’s attitude.
 

      Publish and well know office hours to the Elders and the Congregation.

Organizational Relationship
 

The minister at The Oakland Church of Christ is accountable to God first, and then the Elders in which he labors. He works for the Congregation and closely with the Elders, deacon and brothers of the congregation. He is responsible for carrying out the duties that are listed above and below.

Training and Development
 

The minister is responsible to devote himself to further study and increase his knowledge of the scriptures. He is willing to attend Biblical seminars, training classes, or lectureships in the Detroit metro area as scheduled by other Churches of Christ in the local area when possible.

He is willing and able to conduct gospel meetings, workshops and lectureships when requested.

The minister is willing to train other men to be future leaders, deacons, elders, ministry leaders.
